Gyorgy Sarosi

György Sárosi (born on 5 August 1912, died on 20 June 1993) was a Hungarian striker and manager. György Stefanicsics was the son of a suburban Budapest tailor, who had to hungaricised the family name to Sárosi. György showed soon a great talent and was spotted by a talent scout at 15. Invited to join the junior team of the legendary Budapest club Ferencvŕros, he started a 13 years career (382 matches played and 351 goals scored) with the team that made him legendary. Sárosi was defined a versatile footballer, and effectively, for Ferencváros and Hungary he played as second striker, midfielder and central defense too. Internationally, he got 62 caps scoring a goal in the 1934 - World Cup, and 5 times during the 1938 - World Cup finals, where Hungary lost the title against Italy. After his retirement, in 1948 he moved to Italy, where took the chance to manage different clubs, including Genoa, AS Bari, Bologna, AS Roma and Juventus with the league won in 1951/52 season. György Sárosi died in Genoa (Italy) in 1993 aged 80.
