Santillana
Carlos Alonso González (born 23 August 1952 in Santillana del Mar, Cantabria), is a former Spanish striker, nicknamed Santillana from the birthplace.
Incredibly able to head the ball (he was not even 1.80m), Carlos Alonso, who spent the entire career with Real Madrid CF, is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the history of Spanish football (186 goals in 461 matches).
Aged 19, in 1971 he scored 10 goals from 34 contests in his debut season, winning the league with Real. Finally Santillana won nine league trophies, adding four Spanish cups and back-to-back UEFA Cups (1985 and 1986).
Internationally, Santillana got 56 caps and 15 goals for the Spanish national team, representing his country in the Argentina 1978 and Spain 1982 FIFA World Cups, and 3 European Championships: 1976, 1980 and 1984, in which Spain were losing finalists to hosts France. 1987-88 season was the year of his retirement . Aged 36, Santillana played 12 matches scoring 4 goals, including the one in a 2–1 home win over Real Valladolid with Madrid celebrating three titles in a row in his final three seasons.
