The international career award “Golden Foot” is given to the greatest champions in the history of Football, the international legend Nilton Santos couldn’t be missing. Nilton Reis dos Santos, the unforgettable left back of the Brazil World Champion in 1958 and 1962, will soon be part of the Champions Promenade, the Walk of Fame of international football. On April 28, Nilton Santos received the Globoesporte.com team, Botafogo FR’s president Mauricio Assumpção at the Solar da Gávea Clinic, where he has lived since 2007 treating Alzheimer disease. Known as “Football Encyclopedia”, Nilton will complete 84 years on May 16. Accompanied by his wife Maria Celia, the twice world champion with the Brazilian national team was touched with another homage to his life when he was told, through a letter sent by Golden Foot’s founder Antonio Caliendo, that his name would be in the Champions Promenade beside the greatest footballers ever. “It’s way more difficult to put my feet here than scoring a goal.
