SOVIET STAR BLOKHIN AT 2009 GOLDEN FOOT
Oleg Blokhin, greatest football player in USSR history, will receive 2009 Golden Foot career award on October, 12th. As it happens for the best of this sport, former Dinamo Kyiv and USSR striker will leave his footprints on the Champions Promenade in Monte Carlo, the Walk of Fame of international football. Blokhin was the brightest star in European East football during the 70 and the 80, playing for Dinamo Kyiv and winning to Cup winners' Cup (1975 and 1986), the 1975 European Supercup (thanks to his goal against Beckenbauer's Bayern in München) and 8 USSR championships, 5 national cups and 3 Supercups. Amazing striker, Blokhin became 5 times top scorer in the national championship, which he is the best of all time with 211 goals. He was named best USSR player for three years, Ucrainian for 9. Blokhin was 1975 European player of the year. He is also a recordman for USSR, for goals scored (42) and match played (112). After Nilton Santos, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and René Higuita, Oleg Blokhin is another International star for 2009 GOLDEN FOOT.
