RIBERY DOES NOT APPEAL
France star Franck Ribery will not appeal the three-match ban he was handed by a disciplinary commission for co-leading a training strike during an abortive World Cup, his lawyer said yesterday. “Although any individual punishment handed out to him by the federation’s disciplinary commission seems to him baseless and thus particularly unfair, Franck Ribery has decided not to appeal the ruling,” Jean Didier Lange said. The federation’s commission banned Ribery, then the vice-captain of the team, and three other ringleaders of the training ground strike which followed the expulsion of Nicolas Anelka after his dressing-room tirade against former coach Raymond Domenech at half-time during the defeat to Mexico.(Photo: Getty Images)
